Fishing for Extra Credits?

Write an essay on the topic: "Evolution" that summarizes how species have evolved over time.

First paragraph must include: (10 points)
* A brief description of the history of life in the planet
* Three patterns to infer from the life timeline.

Second paragraph must include: (15 points)
* A definition of the term variation
* One example of trait that vary within a population
* The sources of variation

Third paragraph must include an explanation of how the following are evidence of evolution, including examples of each: (20 points)
* Homologous structures
* Embryonic development
* DNA
* Fossil record

Fourth paragraph must: (35 points)
* Outline of Lamarcks theory of evolution
* State Darwin's theory of natural selection, and explain the following features in his theory: overproduction, genetic variation, competition, survival of the fit, differential reproduction, and accumulation of traits.

Fifth paragraph must discuss: (10 points)
* Mass extinction and causes of extinctions
* Punctuated equilibrium and gradualism

Your essay must be clear, concise, and written in proper English, which include correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. (10 credits)
