(1): Human activities are the main cause of acid rain. Over the past few decades, humans have released so many different chemicals into the air that they have changed the mix of gases in the atmosphere. Power plants release the majority of sulfur dioxide and much of the nitrogen oxides when they burn fossil fuels, such as coal, to produce electricity. In addition, the exhaust from cars, trucks, and buses releases nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide into the air. These pollutants cause acid rain.Nature depends on balance, and although some rain is naturally acidic, with a pH level of around 5.0, human activities have made it worse. Normal precipitation—such as rain, sleet, or snow—reacts with alkaline chemicals, or non-acidic materials, that can be found in air, soils, bedrock, lakes, and streams. These reactions usually neutralize natural acids. However, if precipitation becomes too acidic, these materials may not be able to neutralize all of the acids. Over time, these neutralizing materials can be washed away by acid rain. Damage to crops, trees, lakes, rivers, and animals can result.

(2): biological organisms and the environment in which they live are called an ecosystem. The plants and animals living within an ecosystem are highly interdependent. For example, frogs may tolerate relatively high levels of acidity, but if they eat insects like the mayfly, they may be affected because part of their food supply may disappear. Because of the connections between the many fish, plants, and other organisms living in an aquatic ecosystem, changes in pH or aluminum levels affect biodiversity as well. Thus, as lakes and streams become more acidic, the numbers and types of fish and other aquatic plants and animals that live in these waters decrease.

(3): Government agencies and scientists are not the only ones that can take action to stop acid rain. You can become part of the solution, too!

Understand the Problem
The first step you can take to help control acid rain is to understand the problem and its solutions. Now that you have learned about this environmental issue, you can tell others about it. By telling your classmates, parents, and teachers about what you learned on this site, you can help educate them about the problem of acid rain. You CAN make a difference!

Conserve Energy
Since energy production creates large amounts of the pollutants that cause acid rain, one important step you can take is to conserve energy. You can do this in a number of ways:

* Turn off lights, computers, televisions, video games, and other electrical equipment when you're not using them.
* Encourage your parents to buy equipment that uses less electricity, including lights, air conditioners, heaters, refrigerators, and washing machines. Such equipment might have the Energy Star label.
* Try to limit the use of air conditioning.
* Ask your parents to adjust the thermostat (the device used to control the temperature in your home) when you go on vacation.

Minimize the Miles
Driving cars and trucks also produces large amounts of nitrogen oxides, which cause acid rain. To help cut down on air pollution from cars, you can carpool or take public transportation, such as buses and trains. Also, ask your parents to walk or bike with you to a nearby store or friend’s house instead of driving.

(1)Pollutants :SO2 and NOX are the main components of acid rain. The main source of sulphur dioxide is power station, metal-refining industries human made.this kind of power station that can product this dioxide. It is a pollution that cause the acid rain.( Human activities.

(2)Acid rain causes acidification of lakes and streams and contributes to the damage of trees at high elevations (for example, red spruce trees above 2,000 feet) and many sensitive forest soils. It can affect the ecosystesm.

(3)I think that we mush stop to contain the SO2 and NOX.If cannot stop it at lease try to make the number of sulphur dioxide decrease. I think that if we just let this pollutant keep going than our earth will end.

1)its caused mostly by factories burning chemecals, smoke stacks, chemicals leaking in the groud water and evaporation in the clouds and all that is being absorbed by the clouds and then producing acid rain.

2) Acidic surface waters decrease the survivability of animal life in lakes and streams and in the more severe instances eliminate some or all types of fish and other organisms. It also
contributes to forest degradation by impairing trees' growth and increasing their susceptibility to winter injury, insect infestation, and drought. It also causes leaching and depletion of natural nutrients in forest soil. Acid rain damages everything over a period of time because it makes the living things in the environment die. Acid rain affects the life in the water as well as the life on land. It is almost worse in water than on land because the fish that are in the water need the water to breathe. When the water gets polluted, then the fish get sick and end up dying.

3)i think to solve the acid rain problem, people need to understand how acid rain damages the environment. They also need to understand what changes could be made to the air pollution sources that cause the problem. we most all take a stand as an induvidual, we can make a diference by looking up to the futur, see whats there to come, using alternative energy sources, restore a damaged environment, clean up smokestacks and exhuats pipes.

1.Human activities are the main cause of acid rain. Acid rain results from the chemicals transformation of nitrogen and sulfur products that came from human activities. Acid rain occurs when these gases react in the atmosphere with water, oxygen and other chemicals to form various acidic compounds. For examples, burning of fossil fuels and cars exhaust, release nitrogen and sulfur compounds into the atmosphere. Destruction of limestone and marble monuments. Also smoke from the industrial activities.

2. Acid rain kill plants by damaging their leaves and changing the chemistry of soils and standing-water ecosystems. Acid rain may also dissolve and release toxic elements, such as mercury, from the soil, freeing those elements to enter other portions of the biosphere. Lowers pH of certain lakes which kills some algae and fish. Then food chains in the ecosystem disrupt. Destruction of life in lakes, marshes, ponds due to acidification and damage forests and other plants.

3.One specific action that humans could take to reduce acid rain is using an alternative energy source such as batteries, solar & wind power, electricity for example turning off lights, computers, and other things that are not necesserly when zou are not using them at home or in other places

1 factories burning chemicals, and it being absorbed by the clouds thus producing acid rain. smoke stacks, chemicals leaking in the groud water and evaporation in the clouds.
2 Acid rain flows into streams, lakes,Acid rain also falls directly on aquatic habitats. Acid rain falls on the soil, acid rain releases aluminum from soils into lakes and streams; aluminum is highly toxic to many species of aquatic organisms. The impact of acid rain, damage or kill individual fish screen, fish populations decrease, the total elimination of water from a fish, reduce biodiversity。
3 Limit the number of NOx and SO2 emissions to the atmosphere. Reduce the use of coal containing sulfur, coal washing, remove the SO2 from the gas to leave the chemical chimney. Reduce NOx emissions from vehicles.

1. the causes of acid rain by human action is the Industrial activities, transportation, the burning of fossil fuels......that can produce some specific gas, like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air.they mix and react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to form more acidic pollutant, known as acid rain.
2. the acid rain endangen plant and animal life as well as lakes and forests, because the acid rain can change the PH of water and soil.and the acid rain also can acid etching building.
3. human can improve the technique to discrease the produce of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. other thing is use other energy like electricity to discrease the using of fossil fuels.

1. State how humans have caused acid rain. (30 points)
Certain Human activities are a big issue for our planet, one of them is the cause of the acid rain by emissions of compounds of ammonium, carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur which react with the water molecules in the atmosphere to produce acids.

2. Describe one specific effect that acid rain will have on the ecosytesm.
One of the effects that acid rain can cause on the eccosistem is damage the human health, also it could kill insects, and have an impact on forests.

3. State one specific action humans could take to reduce acid rain. (30 points)

There are many ways to reduce acid rain more properly called acid deposition, ranging from societal changes to individual action. It is critical that acid deposition be reduced, not only in the United States and Canada, but also throughout the world to preserve the integrity of natural habitats, as well as to reduce damage to our planet.

1. Humans have a great impact on the environment. Acid rain is mainly cause by their actions of not caring for the good of their plane. Pollutants are one of the causes, like smog which is due to car exhausts and industrial emissions. Another one is burning of fossil fuels which cause smog and other problems. Toxic chemicals, like nitrates and sulfates, are released into the atmosphere. In addition, by burning of fossil fuels, nitrogen and sulfur are also released.

2. Some of the effects caused by acid rain are very serius and a huge damage to the ecosystem. Smog is bad for the vision for humans but also very bad for their health. It threatens people with problems with the respiratory system. Burning of fuels also affects our health because microscopic particals such as dust and ash can easily get to our nose, mouth, lungs, etc. Acid rain kills plants, forests by damaging their leaves. Also, it might dissolve and release toxic elements to enter other portions of the biosphere. Acid rain contains nitrogen and sulfur which destroy limestone and marble monuments.

3. To reduce acid rain, humans can lessen the amount of automobile emissions that go into the atmosphere or find an alternative energy source. :)

2) Acid rain have effect on plant and wildlife. it negatively affect surface water, aquatic animals, forests and humans health. It acidity destroy most living thing in the environment. For ex: in the water the acid rain will kill the fish who need pure water to breath on! or in surface life tree who drink from the rain mainly will lose their strength, color, solidity and stability. IT ALSO AFFECT THE HUMANS BODY IN CERTAIN WAY.

3)Humans should take interest and contributed by helping each other like co-transportation or walking or find other way to produce energy to make work the factories. You know i believed that everyone is responsible for the good and destruction of this planet we all should think about if the wise decision is not taking now what will happen next ??? the way that you take care of your house do the same for your planet for the world for you.

Acid rain is ways that acid fall out of atmosphere.
1.the cause of acid rains are sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). when these acids react with water, oxygen and other chemicals they form various acid compounds. These chemicals come from burning fossil fuels.
2.Acid rains damage trees, sensitive forest soils. They distort statues and buildings. It also harms public health.
3.In order to delay or stop acid rains there are several things that can be done.we can do it by using alternative energy sources, restoring damaged environment, and taking actions individually for example: Turn off lights, computers, and other appliances when you're not using them.use public transportation or take a walk. And the most importantly be informed.

1. State how humans have caused acid rain.
The main factors of acid rain are the sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. Those factors mainly produce from human industrial activity which are the several type factories, thermoelectric power, and burning of fossil fuels like coal. (30 points)

2. Describe one specific effect that acid rain will have on the ecosystem.
Acid rain can corrode the plants and trees. So, it becomes white and makes holes on the leaves. Acid rain also destroys the chlorophyll and it leads to the loss of resistance and limit the growth in plants and trees. Finally they would be dead. Not only that but also acid rain causes acidification. It cans effects similar things to the animals as well.

3. State one specific action humans could take to reduce acid rain.
a) Use of clean energy such as solar, wind and water energies doesn’t cause any pollution.
b) Use of public transportations rather than riding cars.
C) Try to ride a bicycle or walking in a short distance.
d) Reduce of smoking
