Assignment: In this project you will choose a human disease, research the disease, and then prepare a two-page report describing that disease. You should follow the following steps:
1. Choose a disease (not AIDS, please). This project will be easier and more meaningful if you chose a disease that affects you, someone in your family, or someone you know.
Examples of diseases are swine flue, strep throat, tuberculosis, lung cancer, skin cancer, influenza, measles, chicken pox, heart attack, diabetes, tetanus, meningitis, cholera, asthma, anemia, etc…
2. Begin your research. The website www.curtis1.com has links to many good websites that describe many diseases. As you do your research you must document each site that you get information from.
Besides the Internet, you can get information from books, magazines, encyclopedias, or medical professionals. Again you must document any sources of information in your report.
3. You may chose to interview a person that has the disease you researched, or has knowledge about that disease. This is an optional part of your report.
4. You write a two-page report. Please, click HERE to know more details about the information to include in your report.
Due day: Friday, March 26
Credits: 100 credits.

point # 3 will be extra credit???
Yeisly,
yes, I think it will be too much work to include an interview as a part of the project. Extra credits, you might no need them.
I wanna talk AIDS!!!plz!
Peng,
no way. Pick up another disease, there are plenty of them.
Wonder if someone will write about the one I did lol
Igor, no problem. It would be interesting to compare both, at least for me.
Hello Mr. Soto
I would like to talk about tuberculosis. Should the disease that i will talk about should be in two pages. In addition This disease have also something to do with me. Like I have it, but i dont have the symptom of the disease. It inside and i take medicine to kill it..
Julien,
go ahead with tuberculosis. Your paper has to be no longer than two pages. I will only collect two pages. Choosing tuberculosis will help you understanding better how your body has been affected by the disease.
Mr.Soto I'm not really sure of which those sickness have affected me already. Perhaps you could help me to choose if i tell you that after or during sport i feel very exhausted and sometimes i can't even breath and i always have the impression to spill blood from my mouth. Sorry if there not enough information because i can't really describe what it is.
David,
I would recommend you asthma as a respiratory disease that could help you understand a little bit your own syntoms. Go for it.
Can i talk abt asma on de project ? bronquites or stufs like dis, Cuz douse diseases are easier 2 me , becaze I have =) ???
Raysa,
of course, you can. Do not forget to type and write in proper English too. ;-))
Halo Mr soto...I wanna talk about diabetes because my grandma she has this damn sickness...Now i will go to make some resarch...xD
Samantha,
I think it's a good choice. Having somebody in mind to help will engage you more on the task. I am looking forward to reading your report. Try to write something that help your grandmother to take care better of her problem. Good luck.
Hi Mr.Soto another question: Do we have to do our project by ordering them with those questions:
-What is.....?
-How do you get it?
-What are the symptoms?
-How dangerous could that be?
-Help and medication to take from?
-Can it be possible to destroy it?
And also bring some animation to it like picture or.. hahaha!! sorry i just want my project to be the best.
Can i talk about Dengue fever???...I lived the disease few years ago and for me is kind of interesting to write about.
Hi David,
It would be nice if you label each part of your research as:
1. Introduction or description of the disease
2. Symptoms
3. How the disease affects the human body.
4. Treatments and cures
5. Conclusion
6. Bibliography
And do not forget to add a diagram.
Yeisly,
green light to your project. Nothing fits better this project than a disease you have experienced in your body.
I'am little confuse we have to tell where we find the imformation and who get the disiase what happen if we just do the investigation because i am interesting in learn that disease and we fing the information in diferent plece from the intermet is thi a matter?
Hi Daniela,
I assume you got information from different sources. Take your time to contrast the information. It doesn't matter if you used different sources, in fact I expect you to use different sources. Please, list your sources under "Bibliography". Sources from internet are listed as "Retrieve from...." and write down the link.
I hope it helps.
i couldn't tipe it !!! =(
mrs we have to do the graph??? what happen if i dint do it I dont have any idea how to do it.
Yeisly,
you can handwrite it if you want, typing is not required.
Dany,
do not worry, if you don't know how to add a meaningful graph I will grant you with the credits if your wrote a good essay.
Hi Mr. Soto,
Paulina and I want to ask you if we can wrote more than two pages because of the large spacing and we still have to draw and add the interview.
Hi Mr.Soto! I did'nt uderstand the part F for the disease project about to make the diagram and bibliography. Can you explain to me.
Maja & Paulina,
Yes you can. The goal of limiting the number of pages is to make you "squeeze" your research, so you summarize your findings.
Ousmane,
bibliography: list your resources, where you found the information from. For instance, internet, so you write something like this:
Retrieve from ... and you add the link
or books, like this
author, title, pages
